How do you get to Wanaka?

  • Travel by Plane
    • Wanaka Airport is serviced with regular domestic flights from Christchurch. The airport is located 10 minutes out of town. Dunedin International Airport, three hours away by car, also welcomes flights from NZ and Australian destinations.
  • Travel by Train
    • There is no train service to Wanaka.
  • Travel by Bus
    • Most major public bus, tour bus and shuttle networks offer a service to the area. Most bus routes to Queenstown will drop passengers at Wanaka on request. During winter, several companies offer transport up the mountains for skiers and snowboarders.
  • Rent a Vehicle
    • There are few rental options in Wanaka. Dunedin and Queenstown offer the widest vehicle rental selection in the area
