Wanaka is home to many attractions and adventure sports. Take a cruise on the Lake, sample locally made exquisite wines, or fish at one of the many easily accessible spots. For a more alpine adventure, head into the spectacular hills and mountains which surround Wanaka. In winter, skiing, heli-skiing and snowboarding are a must, and in summer, or all year round, mountain biking, hiking and climbing are all hugely popular activities. For those looking for a more leisurely holiday,  head out to one of the local wineries, have a picnic or take a stroll around the beautiful lake, or sip a coffee at a cafe with a stunning lake view!

Wanaka attracts thousands of travellers to its beautiful region every year, hosting many national and international events throughout the year. Some of the iconic Wanaka events to check out are the epic bi-annual Warbirds Over Wanaka, Festival of Colour, Winter Games, Rippon and the Wanaka A & P Show.

Wanaka is the perfect hub for exploring the surrounding regions. With Central Otago, Queenstown, and Fiordland all nearby, you'll be spoiled for choice! Take a day trip to Queenstown, Cromwell, or the historic Clyde, or combine your visit with Wanaka with trips to the majestic Milford Sound, or go on a spectacular journey and drive up the Haast Pass.
