About the Nelson Region

Situated at the top of the South Island, the Nelson Region boasts some of the best weather, beaches, seafood and outdoor pursuits in the country. From local scallops and golden beaches, to sky-diving and tramping, there's something for everyone.

Nelson boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the country. Close to the city is Tahunanui - a shallow swimming beach, especially good for children. A little further afield try Kaiteriteri, Golden Bay, or Collingwood - golden, sunny and serene. Simply perfect.

Focused on fun, Nelson also bursts with art galleries, workshops, cafes and boutiques.  The town centre offers a host of fine cuisine, decadent delights and colourful artwork, whilst local craftspeople show their wares at the weekend market, and street performers inject some zest into the mix.
