About The Coromandel

The stunning Coromandel Peninsula is one of New Zealand’s favourite summertime destinations. With kilometres of coastline, infinite beaches and coves, and countless bush-clad walkways, the Coromandel is a holiday playground.

The Pohutukawa-lined coasts are great for relaxing on the beach or strolling along the shore. Further inland a rugged mountain range provides excellent hiking, with the Pinnacles walk one of the most popular.

How do you get to The Coromandel?

  • Travel by Plane
    • There are no air services to the Coromandel. However, the Coromandel is located just 90 minutes' drive from Auckland, Rotorua and Tauranga, which are the closest airports to the region.
  • Travel by Train
    • There are no train services to The Coromandel.
  • Travel by Bus
    • The Coromandel has several local bus, shuttle and tour companies. Many bus and tour companies include the area in their itineraries as either a day trip or overnight destination. The area does not have an established, regular public transport system.
  • Rent a Vehicle
    • A limited number of small campervan and car rental companies are located in The Coromandel. Scooter hire is also available in the area.
