How do you get to Taupo?

  • Travel by Plane
    • Taupo Airport services the region, with daily Air New Zealand flights to and from New Zealand's major hubs. Located just 8km south of Taupo town centre, the airport also supports charter flights, scenic flights and skydiving flights.
  • Travel by Train
    • There are no train services to Taupo.
  • Travel by Bus
    • Taupo is serviced by most major inter-city bus networks. Several scenic tour buses and passenger shuttles also provide transportation around the Taupo region. Taupo's surrounding suburbs are serviced by a public bus network called Taupo Connector.
  • Rent a Vehicle
    • Four international rental car companies operate from Taupo Airport - Budget, Hertz, Thrifty and Avis. Bookings are essential in order to secure a car on arrival. Additional rental car companies operate from within Taupo town centre.
