How do you get to Stewart Island?

  • Travel by Plane
    • There is a small airport on Stewart Island, and daily Stewart Island Air flights operate between Stewart Island and Invercargill Airport.
  • Travel by Train
    • There are no train services to Stewart Island.
  • Travel by Bus
    • Stewart Island offers a local bus tour covering all of the island's roads. There are no other coach options.
  • Rent a Vehicle
    • There are a limited number of rental car options available on Stewart Island. However, with less than 30kms of roads on the entire island, walking is the best option!
