Springfield

Springfield, known as the ‘Gateway to the Alps’ is a tiny rural township, nestled amongst stunning alpine peaks. The closest town to five Canterbury ski areas, Springfield also has a strong identity as a railway settlement, with the local railway dating back to 1880. Whilst farming is predominant nowadays, the TranzAlpine train stops at Springfield daily.
