‘Gateway to the Alps’, Springfield is a tiny township nestled amongst stunning alpine peaks. The closest town to five Canterbury ski areas, Springfield also has a strong identity as a railway settlement, dating back to 1880.

    • Springfield is serviced by the daily TranzAlpine train service between Christchurch and Greymouth.

    • Bus services in this area are limited. Most visitors use rental vehicles to access Springfield.
