About Queenstown - Adventure, Adrenaline & More!

Adventure capital of the world, Queenstown is the undisputed heavyweight of New Zealand resorts. Pumping with year round activities, there's something for everyone - golf to jet boating, skiing to skydiving!

Opportunities to get out and explore the beautiful Queenstown countryside are endless. The skiing and snowboarding are outstanding, and the mountainous terrain also makes activities like mountain biking a must.  Those who prefer walks will find plenty in the way of hiking, and nature lovers will enjoy the various eco attractions in and around town.

The Remarkables & Lake Wakatipu

Framed by the aptly named Remarkables mountain range, the small town of Queenstown is nestled alongside the shimmering waters of Lake Wakatipu.  Compact in size, you’ll soon find that Queenstown is big on thrills.

Adrenaline & Adventure

Adrenaline activities define the town – if it’s airborne, gravity-defying, exhilarating or just plain scary, Queenstown’s bound to have it! Geographically suited to all manner of adventure sport, you’ll find the mountains, white water rapids, lakes, canyons and rock faces perfectly suited to adventure.

Serene & Beautiful

For those who enjoy a quieter pace Queenstown is also a great place to take a relaxing break.  World class golf courses, tranquil mountain walks, stunning scenery and acclaimed vineyards all offer opportunities to unwind and enjoy.

Historic Queenstown

Steeped in history, Queenstown’s gold mining past is apparent.  Spend an afternoon in picturesque Arrowtown – a lovingly restored gold mining village – or explore the abandoned gold fields of Skippers Canyon.

For a taste of vintage travel, tour Lake Wakatipu on the TSS Earnslaw or catch the beautifully restored Kingston Flyer steam train.

Skiing and Snowboarding

A year round haven, Queenstown is especially popular in winter, when its top notch ski fields kick into action.  Close to town you’ll find the Remarkables and Coronet Peak ski fields, open mid June through to early October.

Every year at the end of June the town hosts its annual Winter Festival – an exciting 10-day celebration of winter with skiing, boarding, mad-cap activities in Queenstown and plenty of après-ski action!

Be sure to explore the wider Otago region, from its inland alpine ranges to stunning coastal nature parks.
