This 35km track, known and enjoyed by many thousands of walkers over the last 12 years, is a very special experience for walkers who are fit and able to carry a pack.
You tramp over hills and around the dramatic volcanic coast of the remote area beyond Akaroa. Youll enjoy a great variety of landscape, from panoramic high-points to bush-clad valleys, waterfalls, open farmland and beech forest, arriving at cosy accommmodation, each with its own charm and character. Take the opportunity to observe penguins, seals, and Hectors dolphins.
Pack cartage is available on the first and last longer days. Two small shops at Stony Bay (3rd night) and Otanerito (4th night) enable you to get food supplies along the way.
Relax before or after your tramp in the charming seaside village of Akaroa.
