Beluga Lodge is a beautifully restored kiwi villa set in an acre of tranquil private gardens. This 4+ Star Qualmark property is in a great location, just five minutes walk from the shops, cafes and restaurants in the heart of Methven and 30 minutes drive to Mt Hutt skifield. Beluga offers you the choice of stylish Lodge Rooms, the secluded luxury of the Garden Suite, or independence in the delightfully restored Minke Cottage.
Our Lodge lounge provides the perfect setting to warm up infront of the roaring open fire, sample some of our award winning NZ wines and beers from the honesty bar or just sit and relax with a book from our library.
Lodge and Garden Suite guests have access to an outdoor spa pool and BBQ area. There are 5 Lodge Rooms and all have ensuite bathrooms, TV, Ipod compatible entertainment systems, fluffy bathrobes, crisp European linen and locally made Blue Earth bathroom products. We have wireless internet throughout the property. A delicious continental breakfast is included in your room rate.
Minke Cottage is a completely self-contained property with four bedrooms (either doubles or twins), two bathrooms and a large open plan living/dining/kitchen area. In the lounge there is an open fire, flat screen TV with Sky digital, wireless internet, DVD player and stereo. Outside there is a private garden area with BBQ. Minke is perfect for groups or families and can sleep up to nine people. Three night minimum stay applies in winter.
Our location at the base of the Southern Alps means that there is a wealth of activities right on our doorstep. These include two local golf courses, Mt Hutt skifield, heliskiing, jet boating on the Rakaia River, fishing, hunting, sky diving, mountain biking, walking, hot air ballooning, scenic flights and Lord of the rings tours. All this and we are only a one hour drive from Christchurch airport.

By car from Christchurch: Follow State Highway 1 to Rakaia, turn right and follow signs to Methven. Turn right at Mobil garage in Methven onto Main Street then left onto Allen Street. Beluga is located on the corner of Allen and Alford Streets (office on Alford Street). By bus from Christchurch: Methven Travel operates a daily bus service from Christchurch city centre and from the airport to Methven. See their website for times. Private Transfer: We can arrange a private transfer for you - either a chauffeured car or mini bus can provide door to door service at any time of the day or night.
