Martinborough

Martinborough is best known for the 30+ wineries sprinkled about town. Established by Irish immigrant John Martin, Martinborough's streets are laid out in the shape of a Union Jack and are named after places Martin visited before New Zealand.

How do you get to Martinborough?

  • Travel by Plane
    • There are no direct flights to Martiborough. A regular Air New Zealand direct flight between Masterton and Auckland brings visitors into the region. Masterton Airport is located about 40 minutes’ drive away from Martinborough.
  • Travel by Train
    • Martinborough is serviced daily by TranzMetro - the public train service based in Wellington. The Wairarapa Connection train stops there at various times of the day.
  • Travel by Bus
    • Martinborough is connected to Palmerston North and other major NI towns via the InterCity bus network. Local tour bus operators service the region, providing passenger transport & wine tours. Wellington's public bus system also reaches Martinborough
  • Rent a Vehicle
    • Masterton offers a limited number of car rental companies, based in town.
