How do you get to Karamea?

  • Travel by Plane
    • There is a small airstrip in Karamea which offers flights to and from Takaka in Golden Bay, and arranges scenic flights over the Kahurangi National Park area.
  • Travel by Train
    • There is no train service to Karamea.
  • Travel by Bus
    • Karamea is connected to a few national bus lines, offering transport from a range of West Coast destinations.
  • Rent a Vehicle
    • There are multiple rental car companies located in Westport, just over an hours’ drive away, offering car and motorhome rentals. To avoid disappointment, these should be booked prior to your arrival if possible.
