How do you get to Hokitika?

  • Travel by Plane
    • Hokitika has a small airport offering Air New Zealand flights to and from Christchurch. Charter and scenic flights can also be arranged.
  • Travel by Train
    • There is no train service to Hokitika, however nearby Greymouth - 30 minutes away - is the start/finish point for the famous TranzAlpine train journey. It travels through Arthur's Pass to Christchurch.
  • Travel by Bus
    • Hokitika is connected to many national bus lines, from a range of destinations.
  • Rent a Vehicle
    • There are a limited number of car rental companies which have outlets in Hokitika. To avoid disappointment, these should be booked prior to your arrival if possible.
