About Helen Frances
Helen Frances is a Wellington based career consultant and freelance writer who writes for a number of New Zealand newspapers and magazines. Among other topics she writes about the crafts people who still ply rare trades such as leather work, rustic furniture, wheelwrighting, book binding, stone masonry and house restoration.
She enjoys the quirky side of New Zealand life, particularly that of local characters.
"I love eccentricity and the colour of individual personalities. Often Kiwi values come right on through despite the surface strangeness."
When writing about people and destinations she likes to mix the personal and factual with a shot of imagination.
Other writing includes film commentaries and articles/interviews for a French film magazine.
