Gisborne Wine Region

Gisborne - the Chardonnay Capital of New Zealand. The Gisborne wine region (part of the North Island province of Eastland) is the world’s most easterly wine producing region  Gisborne is also the first city in the world to see the new day, adding a spectacular element to your Gisborne wine experience!

Known as New Zealand's 'chardonnay capital', half of Gisborne's vineyards are Chardonnay, with another 40% planted in other white varieities. Red wine accounts for only 10% of Gisborne's wine production.

As the world’s most easterly wine producing region, Gisborne grapes are the first to see the sun each day. The region's high sunshine hours and sheltered coastal plains are conducive to its world-renowned Chardonnay production.
