How do you get to Central Dunedin?

  • Travel by Plane
    • Dunedin International Airport welcomes direct flights from Sydney and Brisbane, as well as from New Zealand's primary airport hubs: Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Dunedin Airport is actually located near Mosgiel - 30km south of Dunedin city.
  • Travel by Train
    • There is no train service to Dunedin. The Taieri Gorge Railway is a scenic rail journey that starts at the Dunedin railway station in central Dunedin and stops in several regional towns including Palmerston, Pukerangi, Wingatui and Middlemarch.
  • Travel by Bus
    • A wide range of local, national, regional and backpacker buses and shuttles visit Dunedin daily. Transport between Dunedin and the popular destinations of Queenstown and Christchurch is regular and easy to arrange.
  • Rent a Vehicle
    • Several international car rental companies operate out of Dunedin Airport. In addition, most major car and motorhome rental companies have outlets in central Dunedin.
