Bluff

Nestled at the bottom of the South Island, the maritime town of Bluff is best known for the Bluff Oyster (a New Zealand delicacy). Bluff is also the departure point for the Stewart Island ferry across moody Foveaux Strait.

How do you get to Bluff?

  • Travel by Plane
    • There are no air services to Bluff. Invercargill Airport, which offers a range of domestic flight options, is located around half an hour’s drive away from Bluff.
  • Travel by Train
    • There are no train services to Bluff.
  • Travel by Bus
    • A small number of tour buses stop in Bluff, but bus access is quite limited. Most visitors make their way to Bluff in private/rental vehicles.
  • Rent a Vehicle
    • There are no rental car options available in Bluff. There are a small number of car rental outlets at Invercargill Airport. Alternatively, Invercargill city offers a selection of car rental outlets.
