How do you get to Balclutha & Catlins?

  • Travel by Plane
    • There are no air services to Balclutha or the Catlins. Dunedin International Airport, which offers a range of domestic and trans-Tasman routes, is located around an hour’s drive from Balclutha.
  • Travel by Train
    • There are no train services to Balclutha or the Catlins.
  • Travel by Bus
    • Balclutha is serviced by numerous bus networks, backpacker buses and regional shuttle buses. Bus connections join Balclutha with Dunedin, Queenstown and Christchurch on a regular basis. Some tour operators take trips through the Catlins region.
  • Rent a Vehicle
    • There are no rental car options available in Balclutha or the Catlins, as most people arrive in the area by car. There are a small number of car rental outlets at Invercargill or Dunedin Airports.
